Know the ins and outs of how knights fight against passed pawns. Knights can either blockade a passed pawn, or attack it, but not both! If you're trying to promote a pawn, see if you can deflect the enemy knight using your own knight as bait. Knights are also notoriously bad at dealing with passed rook pawns, as they have less room to maneuver.
